Megan Sapp joined the Special Beginnings family in the summer of 2008, though she has been involved with birth centers since 2002. Her introduction to midwifery came while working at the Birth Center of Gainesville, in Gainesville, Florida. She was inspired by the compassion and care provided by the midwives there. Though she was a pre-medicine student at the time, Megan felt a much greater draw towards the "woman-centered" field of midwifery and began pursuing midwifery school. After completing a Bachelors degree in Women's Studies at University of Florida, Megan attended Vanderbilt University for her Masters Degree. She graduated from Vanderbilt's nurse-midwifery program in 2007. She then completed a Family Nurse Practitioner program through Vanderbilt, and is dually board certified as both a Nurse-Midwife and Family Nurse Practitioner.

Her areas of clinical interest include complementary therapies, waterbirth, nutrition, VBAC, family planning, and healthcare for adolescents. Megan has received advanced training in craniosacral therapy and alternative remedies, and is completing a certificate in plant-based nutrition from Cornell University. She enjoys mentoring students from all backgrounds, and sits on the committee to write the national Nurse-Midwifery certification exam. In her spare time, Megan lives in Baltimore, cooks lots of vegetables, and is restoring a 130 year-old rowhome.

Megan is very honored to be able to serve the women and families who choose Special Beginnings for their care.
